• St. Jude Math-A-Thon

   Dear Families,

  Our students are joining St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the fight
  against childhood cancer by participating in the St. Jude Math-A-Thon the week of: May 12nd to May 23rd, 2025.

  St. Jude Math-A-Thon is a fun and educational way for students to test their math skills while making a difference for
  St. Jude kids. You can play a key role in bringing success to this program, and participation is simply by following the steps in the flyer.

• PA Spring Election

  Dear Cunningham Parents and Guardians,

  You are invited to join our monthly PA general virtual meeting next Tuesday, May 27th, 6.30pm. We will hold PA Spring Elections during this meeting for all of the positions described below. Please join the virtual meeting and nominate yourselves or others and vote! Get involved and help make a difference in our school community. Your participation in the PA elections is important in electing a functional PA Board for the coming school year!

• Cunningham Multicultural Celebration

  We are excited to welcome our Cunningham Families to join our annual Multicultural Celebration on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 4:30pm-6:30pm as we celebrate the many diverse cultures of all the Cunningham Families through food, performances, and arts and crafts! Each family will receive up to three (3) tickets, making it a perfect opportunity for you and your loved ones to join in the fun and connect with others in our community. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

• May 8th- Summer Rising Offer Deadline

   

  The last day to accept Summer Rising offers is Thursday, May 8^th. Make sure you accept your offer and answer any required questions to ensure your child’s seat! This year, families will not be automatically enrolled, and must accept their children’s offers by the deadline, as Summer Rising placements will not be confirmed until families accept them. Accepting an offer will not affect your child’s chances of getting a waitlist offer to another program at a later date. If you have any further questions, please reach out at Summer@schools.nyc.gov.

• Mother's Day Flower Fundraiser

  Our Cunningham Parent Association will be hosting Mother's Day Flower Fundraiser on May 8th and May 9th during all lunch periods. The proceed will go towards the Parent Association to support student activities and Parent workshops. We appreciate your help in make this fundraiser a success. • For Prospective 6th Grade Parents: Middle School Admission Information

  TODAY,  April 9th, 2025, New York City Middle School Offers are released for the upcoming school year. 

  All applicants get a middle school offer; most students get an offer to attend one of the programs ranked on their middle school application, but it is not guaranteed. Your child's offer letter also includes a list of programs where they’ve been waitlisted.

  • Your child is automatically on the waitlist for any program that you listed higher on their application than the program where they received an offer. For example, if your child received an offer to your third-choice program, they are automatically waitlisted at your first-choice and second-choice programs.
  • After initial offers are made and while waitlists are open, you can add your child to additional waitlists. (However, please note that your child's best chance of getting an offer to any program is to include it as a choice on their original application.)
  • You can also check your child's place on the waitlist for any school, in real time.
  • Waitlist offers are made based on seat availability, as well as the same admissions priorities and admissions methods described on this page and detailed in MySchools.
  • Schools will be in touch directly if a seat opens up and they can make your child a waitlist offer.

  Here's a breakdown of the middle school admissions process in NYC for the 2025-2026 school year:

  • Application Opens: The middle school application opened on October 15, 2024. 
     
  • Application Closes: The application closed on December 20, 2024. 
     
  • Offer Release: Offers are released today, April 9, 2025. 
     
  • Waitlists: Middle school waitlists will also open on April 9, 2025, when offers are released. 
     
  • Where to find information: Families can find information and resources on the New York City Public Schools website. 
     
  • How to Apply: Families can apply through the MySchools.nyc website. 
     
  • Virtual Information Session: Families of current fifth-grade students are invited to a live virtual information session about offers and waitlists.

• Parent Robin Workshop Series - Digital Well-being

  Parents and guardians are cordially invited to attend this informative workshop during which a coach from Robin guides participants through an exploration of the benefits and pitfalls of technology and helps them support choices that enhance rather that detract from their well -being vis-a-vis technology use. 

  The focus of this workshop is on how we have the power to use technology, especially social media, in a way that serves us, and how families can navigate the challenges that can arise in a way that aligns with values and goals.

  Virtual: 04/29/25 6:30-7:30PM

  (This workshop is presented in both a virtual/remote and an in-person format for parents'/guardians' convenience. Please attend the format that works best for you. Note that in person sessions are combined with the PA General Meeting.)
